Believing in Babylon (page 1)

Page 1 of a short graphic novel following the biblical story of Daniel, with a note from our illustrator, Matthew Vincent.

For page one, I really wanted to set the scene of loss and heartbreak the Jews would have felt at the time of the exile. I think that emotional juxtaposition of feeling friction with the culture you are living in, while also being called to seek its well-being, is at the heart of the story. Visually, I wanted to make that parallel between living in Babylon’s culture and our own in the last two panels by having a mirrored image of Daniel learning the culture, and the college student doing the same.
