Believing in Babylon (page 2)

Page 2 of a short graphic novel following the biblical story of Daniel, with a note from our illustrator, Matthew Vincent.

For page two, I decided to fill the background of the page with the Akkadian language. From my research, it would most likely have been the written language Daniel and his friends would have had to learn in order to serve in Nebudchanezzar’s court. A constant theme is being “in the world yet not of the world” so this gave me an opportunity to have our main characters surrounded by the culture, yet distinct.
