Believing in Babylon (page 3)

Page 3 of a short graphic novel following the biblical story of Daniel, with a note from our illustrator, Matthew Vincent.

This was probably the most panels and text to fill a page at this point. In order to help the reader navigate the narrative clearly, I tried to use panel breaks and characters’ gestures to visually guide the reader from panel to panel. When it came to the introduction of the astrologers and King Neb, I wanted them to be dressed in visually similar yet distinct ways from Daniel and his friends. That way they all appeared to be in the same culture, but Daniel and his friends would still visually be distinct.
