One of my illustration heroes is the late-great Darwyn Cooke. In my experimenting with potential styles for Salt + Light Stories, I came across one of his books that used high contrast and a single color highlight. It really wowed me and added more focus on the story, which I felt was appropriate, so I adopted it.
This first page is meant to show the echoing of music across the ages. The venues and instruments all change but the audience is still the same: God. I felt this imagery coupled with Larry’s words would really push the idea across.
