Wilberforce's Two Great Objects (page 5)
Page 5 of a short graphic biography of English anti-slavery campaigners Hannah More and William Wilberforce in Georgian era England, with a note from our illustrator, Wade McComas.
The poem Hannah wrote in the "Sorrows of Yamba" painted such a vivid picture of the transport of slaves. I thought of instead of trying to imagine the life of slaves in the ship, I pull the lens back to show the ship as a whole. Something so terrible happening in such a picturesque setting felt more inline with the poem.
